When one Friend betrays another and the referee dosen’t hear it, do the Galatasaray fans make a noise???
By: Musab | November 6th, 2007Here are two players that any Galatasaray fan can recognize. On the left we have Ergun Penbe, a product of Galatasaray’s great youth system, on the right we have Hasan Sas, another one of Galatasaray’s old legends.Ergun and Hasan are very similar and yet at the same time they are completely different.
Both Ergun and Hasan wre instrumental in Galatasaray’s European triumphs in the UEFA cup and the Super Cup, not to mention the multitude of league championships and cups. One played on the left and one played on the right.
However their personalities were as different as chalk and cheese. Ergun was quiet, Hasan was so determined and was filled with what we call in Turkish “Hirs” which basically means extreme spirit, that he openly cursed at the referee, his opponents and his own friends. Ergun was a family guy, Hasan… wasn’t to say the least.
Last year Ergun moved on to Gaziantepspor for his last years as a footballer. And on Sunday Galatasaray took on Gaziantepspor and was held to a 1:1 tie. After the match Ergun made a shocking accusation. He claimed that during the match, Hasan Sas cursed at him right in front of the referee, telling Ergun to “F**k off”. Ergun claimed that the referee should have punished him with a Red card. Hasan Sas claimed that Ergun didn’t need to release this info and on Monday Ergun went on live TV to say that there was no problem between him and Hasan. (you may watch all three of these at this website, though it is in Turkish)
I quite frankly dont care about the red card. What I care about is as to how Hasan can curse at someone who is a love of all Galatasaray and Turkish fans. How can he curse at a friend with whom he shared countless trophies? How can he curse at someone who would never curse in his life, who only recieved one red card in his entire career at Galatasaray?
Thats why Hasan is now dead to me. You Hasan have no right to do what you have done. You don’t have the right to curse at whoever you want, then say, I”t’s cuz im too into the game, sorry”. If you’re too “into the game” then go see a psychiatrist, dont vent it out on someone like Ergun.
