UEFA Cup matchday 3: Panionios 0-3 Galatasaray- The return of the King
By: Musab | November 29th, 2007As I wrote above the King “Kral” Hakan has returned.
STADIUM: Nea Smyrni
REFEREES: Alberto Undino Mallenco, Fermin Martinez, Roberto Alonso Fernandez
PANİONİOS: Tabassis, Maniatis, Plestsch, Djebbour, Aravidis (min.69 Koutsoupoulos) , Makos, Koumordzi, Majstorovic, Gundulakis, Spiropilos, Fernandez
COACH: Ewald Lienen
GALATASARAY: Orkun, Uğur, Servet, Song, Volkan, Hasan, Linderoth (min.46 Hakan Şükür), Mehmet Topal, Arda (min.79 M.Güven), Lincoln, Serkan (min.87 Sabri)
COACH: K.H.Feldkamp
GOALS: Serkan (min.50) Song (min.63 pen.) Hakan Şükür (min.84)
YELLOW CARDS: Makos, Plestsch (Panionios) Mehmet Topal (G.Saray)
RED CARD: Makos (min.63)
First half was nothing special. Kinda boring, not much excitement. However in the second half Herr Feldkamp switched Linderoth for Hakan Sukur. The legendary controversial captain of Galatasaray got onto the field, and Galatasaray completely changed. He managed to serve up the assist for one of the goals and managed to get on the scoreboard himself with a classic Hakan header. As i promised before, i’ll soon write a special piece on Hakan and all the news circulating about him lately (Not being wanted in the team, wanting to play in America.)
One player that I want to discuss about in particular is Hasan Sas. After being booed off of the field due to his antics a couple of matches ago, Hasan Sas put in a wonderful performance in this match as well as last weeks derby at Trabzon. I’ve said this before and i’ll say it again; If Hasan can shut his mouth and get into the game, Hasan is the best player in Turkey and he COULD have played in any top European team. But alas, its too late now.

Another good post, summed up the game as it was. Panionios played very hard. We were a little lucky on the first goal, but totally deserved the 3 nil result. I hope to be at the next match in istanbul against Wien.
