Sivasspor 3-5 Galatasaray, without a doubt, the match of the season.

The trip to Sivas was widely considered to be the final real obstacle towards our march to the championship trophy. For a whole week the Turkish media reported how the entire city of Sivas was alight with the “passion to write history”. Yea well our youngsters were alight with the “passion to be champs”. And of course when these two passion colllided, it resulted in an amazing match.

I want to start off first but applauding the Sivasspor fans. Throughout the entire day, not one insult, not one curse was heard in the stadium, something nothing short of a miracle in Turkey. Unfortunantly it was the Galatasaray fans who screamed the curses. Go figure.

To the match….. Once again Galatasaray started off strong. Sivasspor however played with desire and proved that they didn’t get this far by luck. Indeed Sivasspor got the first goal after a complete miskick by Rigobert Song which sent it into our own net. However then the CimBom ramped up their game. Eventually golden boy Arda scored two goals to bring us back in the lead.

However Sivas was not done. After another blunder by the defense and an error by the keeper Aykut, Sivasspor levelled things up. Ayhan then took an amazing 30 meter shot which found the top left corner. Again the CimBom were ahead. And yet again Sivas tied things up with a wellplaced shot.

And then Arda finally stepped up when he was most needed and scored a fourth goal before Hakan scored a fifth. That finally killed the yigidoglular’s hopes. Without a doubt it was the match of the season. Sivasspor truly showed that they have great potential. Who knows, new Trabzon anybody?

With this result, Galatasaray only needs one point to be the champions. This one point must come from Oftasspor at home. This must be cake after defeating Fener and Sivas.

So is it too earlier to proclaim ourselves the champions? I think not!!!!
