Postmatch: Galatasaray 3:2 Genclerbirligi (Turkish for Juventus)-Now that’s more like it.
By: Musab | November 11th, 2007Galatasaray: Orkun, Uğur, Song, Servet, Hakan Balta, Arda (min.65 Volkan), Mehmet Topal, Lincoln (min.88 M.Güven), Barış, Nonda, Serkan (min.83 Bouzid)
Genclerbirligi: Gökhan, Erhan, Tuna, Tolga, Petkovic, Mehmet Nas (min.46 Sedat), Kerem, Mehmet Çakır, Engin (min.35 Zoric), Carle (min.61 Okan), Isaac
Goals: Kerem (min.3) M.Topal (min.12) Serkan (min.30) Lincoln (min.50) Tuna (min 90+2)
After the accident on Thursday, we finally played a good match at home. Genclerbirligi started off right away with a lucky goal that hit Baris and Song to wind up in our net. Then, as if on cue, the lions attacked. Good passing, smart thinking, and accurate shots gave us a 3-1 lead before Gencler got one final goal in the dying minutes.
Player of the match: Mehmet Topal
Mehmet was awesome today. He filled in for injured Linderoth and had himself a wonderful game. After we ate the first goal, Mehmet’s good shot gave the team enough morale to lead them to a victory
Honorable Mention: Serkan Calik
Serkan finally started in the first team and also did his job perfectly. While he did miss a couple, he still got the second goal which gave us the lead. Serkan’s short size is the only real obstacle to his becoming a great forward.
One thing during the match that really got to me were the dangerous fouls committed on Lincoln. The referee only gave one yellow card when he should have given out at least 4.

3-2 against a team in the relegation zone doesn’t make a huge argument for Galatasaray in terms of defense, but a win’s a win, and 3-1 until injury time is a safe win. I hope you guys can get on a nice run and get your UEFA Cup campaign jump-started.

PS – you seem to be missing a /b tag after the honorable mention guy.

Well Genclerbirligi is one of the better teams in the league, despite their poor start. Now since, we completely outplayed them and I personally liked the football.
