Even though we were drawn to a tie, I personally loved the match, Galatasaray played “Tek Kale”, “One goal”. Galatasaray took 25 shots at goal, 16 of which were on target, but only managed to get 2 goals. This might be due to IBB’s great defense and great goalkeeping by Kenan Hasagic. However, we were denied two penalties and two of our attacks were cut off by the linesman even though Arda had nothing to do with being offside.
This might sound crazy, but I’m actually not worried by the lost points. We’re still playing the best football in Turkey and we’re creating chances. We’re still four points ahead of Fenerbahce who just narrowly won despite the referee not counting the other sides goal. I swear its these damned Fenerli’s that are responsible for everything bad in Turkish football. Thank god we finally get to play against them this weekend.
However there is another incident worth mentioning. In the last quarter of the game, Umit Karan was brought down in the penalty area. But of course the referee didn’t award us our penalty. Hasan Sas ran up to the referee and started screaming point blank in his face. Referee took out his yellow card, gave Hasan his second yellow, proceeded with the red, and then Hasan saw the red mist. He grabbed the refree by the shirt and started to scream every curse in the book, “Ana avrat kufur etti “cursed mother and children”. He was dragged off the pitch by no less then 4 players. Once again Hasan is unable to control his rage. Once again Hasan abandons his team when they most need him. Once again the whole of Turkey vents its anger out on him. I ask Hasan: Is it really worth it? Is it???
