News from the Metin Oktay Training Grounds- Galatasaray prepares for Greek road trip

First off Fenerbahce lost to Inter today 3-0. I for one always support Turkish teams against European teams. To the Fenerli’s: Don’t worry bout this result, just get ready to beat CSKA at Istanbul.

After some time off, Nonda has returned from injury for a week. However amazingly enough, Barış Özbek, Mehmet Topal, Serkan Çalık, Tobias Linderoth, İsmael Bouzid, Ayhan Akman and Okan Buruk are all injured. How can a team have so many injuries? Are we ever gonna see a full force Galatasaray squad. Apparently not. Since this a brand new squad and many of the players are still young, I guess we can expect a couple of injuries. Still, we need our players to get ready for the Fenerbahce-Galatasaray derby in two weeks.

Apparently Hakan Sukur “gave a show” during the training sessions, scoring goals at will and giving lots of positive energy to the team. recently more and more sources claim that Galatasaray’s adminstrators are planning on sending Hakan away in January. I’m going to write my opinions on Hakan soon. Keep an eye out for that, I promise it’ll be good.

In other news Olympique Marseille coach and ex-Galatasaray coach Eric Gerets has returned to Istanbul to take on Besiktas in the Champions league. He made some pretty interesting comments. Basically he says that if he wished that he had the squad Galatasaray back when he was in charge and that he still has a love for Galatasaray in his heart. How sweet. Great job Adnan Polat for sending him away. If you had spent this kind of money for him he would still have been in charge and we would have been after our third championship.

This Thursday we’re heading our to Greece to take on Panoinios in a do or die UEFA match. We really need to win this match Herr Feldkamp, otherwise even the championship is not worth it. Galatasaray is a European club, we need to win european matches. I’ll give some more info on the match tomorrow.
