Lucescu to Galatasaray? Please, please, please be true…..
By: Musab | January 22nd, 2008According to several Turkish sport newspapers, Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu has met with Galatasaray agents and has discussed returning to Istanbul. Its a known fact that his contract ends this Summer and that he will not seek a contract extension. Earlier in the week he has also stated that “After Shakhtar I would love to return to Turkey”. So could he return?
I for one want him to come back more than anything else. As we would say in Turkish “Lucescu, burasi senin evin”, literally meaning “Lucescu, this is your home”. He has already spent time with Galatasaray from 2000 to 2002 and during his tenure he won one UEFA super cup, one Championship, one Turkish cup final, and took Galatasaray to the Quarter-final of the Champions league, losing out to Real Madrid. He also took rivals Besiktas to a centennial championship in 2003.
In addition look at what hes done at Shakhtar. With a good amount of funds, he brought in several quality players such as Lucarelli, Willian, Fernandinho, and Ilsinho. He took Shakhtar to two championships and he most likely will win this years league as well.
So I say again, Lucescu must come us. Feldkamp must be thrown out the door along with his morale crushing, discontent spreading Gestapo-style discipline. Let’s hope that the Galatasaray board finishes this deal.
