Fatih Terim to return to his true home?

By: Musab | October 10th, 2008

After last week’s loss to Bursaspor, the Galatasaray board stated that “radical changes” were on the way. And, true to their word, the board declared that assistant coaches, Umit Davala and Edwin Boekamp were fired today after a brief chat with club president Adnan Polat.

Umit Davala was a Galatasaray legend and many saw in him the potential to be a future manager of Galatasaray. I also had big hopes for Umit. He definitly has the mental strength to be a manager and he worked very well with the Turkey U-21 team. Edwin Boekamp was brought in personally by Skibbe and few knew much about him other than his ability to work well with youngsters.

So what does this all mean in the grand scheme of things? These changes will undoubtably hurt Skibbe more than anyone else. By cutting off his arms and legs, the Galatasaray board is simply making it harder for Skibbe to fix this team. While the Galatasaray board members continue to state their trust and belief in Skibbe, we now have reports that ex-CimBom legend, current Turkey national team manager Fatih Terim might return to the Ali Sami Yen after Adnan Polat met and spoke with him.

The last thing I’ve heard that,Skibbe’s assistans contracts have been terminated by the board.I believe Terim is the greatest Turkish manager ever, and Adnan Polat and Fatih Terim have similar personalities. But much aggression may bring failure too,if Skibbe goes and Fatih Terim comes, and what will happen if things get worse?

Woof. Its even hard to predict the mess and chaos in the club.Adnan Polat must decide wisely.

I hope the decisions he will make will be beneficial for your club.A leauge with an unsuccessful Galatasaray,or Fenerbahçe,or Besiktas.Oh,that should be boring.

Ozzy: I completely agree that too much aggression can damage a team. When you have two big personalties like Terim and Polat in the same room, there will always be an arguement.

However I don’t think that Skibbe is going anywhere. Not yet at least. I also don’t think that there is much chaos right now. However a loss against Olympiakos in Istanbul will turn the tables over.

Exactly.Galatasaray has a squad with a worldwide quality.Mehmet Topal,Servet Çetin,Arda Turan,Harry Kewell,Milan Baros,Meira,Lincoln,De Sanctis. All players are great and talented, and as a result, the expections of fans and board are much than “satisfaction”.He cant do well.He must do best.Or he’ll be the one who will be sentenced to “death” by the “jurors”.
