Daily CimBom news: Hakan could be on his way to MLS, Fener shows us once again why everyone hates them, and our new manager?

By: Musab | May 31st, 2008

In a couple of days from now, CimBom legend, Hakan Sukur’s contract will end. The Galatasaray board dosen’t want to give him a new contract while Hakan insists on playing another year. The board wants Hakan to sign a five year deal which will see him become manager of Galatasaray’s youth system and will rename many of Galatasaray’s youth schools and summer camps in his honor. Let’s not forget that Hakan, at the age of 37, has scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists this season.

Hakan on the other hand wishes to continue playing for another year. Hakan has also revealed that:

“I have been approached by a couple of clubs from American and Qatarian leagues who have offered me very lucrative contracts. I also have to think of my family and my children and I would want them to have a top-quality education. However if the Galatasaray board offer me a contract, I will choose them before any other club”.

Quite frankly I want Hakan to call it a day in Turkey and come over to the good old US of A. If Hakan come to New York, I would buy the best sesaon tickets I can, and I know many Turks who would do the same. He’d make pretty good money at the age of 37, his children would get a good education, and most importantly, he’d be succesful and score plenty of goals, especialy since he takes really good care of himself physically.

As we all know, Fenerbahce have signed Galatasaray legend Emre Belozoglu from Newcastle United and have offered him 5 million a year. However once again, Fener have shown why they’re the scum of the Earth and why every living soul in Turkey which is able to think properly hates them. In the on-line presentation of Emre, the writers over there have decided not to mention the word “Galatasaray” once.

My answer to this is really simple. Who the hell do you guys think your fooling. Everyone in Tureky knows Emre is a die-hard Galatasaray fanatic whos only going to Fener for the money (something I don’t blame him for). I wonder if the Fener fans will call him “Katil Emre“, “Killer Emre”, again (he gained this nickname after he accidently struck and killed a pedestrian while returning from a mosque in the early morning). Quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised.

However everyone is waiting for the new Galatasaray manager. Many names are being thrown around. Laudrup, Sammer, Gotz, Hagi, Lucescu, Musab, Alex Ferguson, etc. I for one just want a good manager in charge as soon as possible.

How well do you think Galatasaray will do in the Champions League this year?

To be honest, I dont expect to get far at all. The team is undergoing a reconstruction period of sorts. As a result, our youngsters may not be able to handle top-class European football.

However as we all know, this seasons UEFA cup final will be held in Fener’s Sukru Saracoglu stadium. Our main goal this year is to lift the UEFA cup in our enemies own home stadium.

I’ve read a rumour that even Cologne is linked with Sükür (http://www.stargazete.com.tr/index.asp?haberID=161239).

And as I happen to be a Cologne fan, I wondered whether you know anything about Baki Mercimek from city rivals Besiktas? There’s a rumour linking him to Cologne as well.

Jan: While I believe that Baki might be on his way to Koln, i highly doubt that Hakan will go to Germany unless they give a very profitable contract. I see Hakan going to either Qatar or MLS.

Baki is a very reckless player who lunges into two footed tackles which deserve red card. However, If daum can get some discipline out of him, Baki could be a good transfer.

Thanks for the info! Sükür probably wouldn’t have been much more than a marketing stunt I guess. There’s a big Turkish community in Cologne and this would surely have sold some shirts and won some fans.

I’m not sure Baki would be much of an improvement over the current central defence then. Red cards don’t help any club, but when you prepare for a season long relegation battle, those could be especially harmful.
