Board signs 5 year contract with young starlet Mehmet Topal
By: Musab | April 23rd, 2008Today it was announced that the 21 yr old starlet of a defensive midfielder Mehmet Topal has extended his contract with the club for another 5 years.
After Tobias Linderoth’s crippling injury early this season, Mehmet Topal has had to step up to the plate and take over. And boy did he step up. Mehmet has been perhaps one of the best players for us this season. His over all intelligence and of course his very long legs allow him to cut down passes before they threaten the defense and he is able to recover quickly from any mistakes and get the ball back with precision. The very shy young Turk has already been a love of the Ali Sami Yen faithful.
Mehmet will probably be called up to Fatih Terim’s squad this summer to play in the Euro’s. According to Turkish new reports, a number of European clubs are lining up a bid for him and their decision to buy him (and how much they will pay) will depend on Mehmet’s performance for the national team this June.
