Arda’s “doing fine”, stresses over the derby loss

By: Musab | November 17th, 2008

Last Sunday, golden boy Arda Turan had to be taken off the pitch after he complained of a rapid heart rate before being rushed to the hospital. The doctors announced that there was nothing wrong with Arda, just a very stressful life and a lack of sleep.

National coach Fatih Terim visited Arda and stated that he complained about not being able to sleep after last week’s heavy 4-1 defeat at rivals Fenerbahce. Quite frankly Arda’s the kind of kid that would actually stress over such a loss. I wonder how the foreigners felt after the loss? Wonder if they lost any sleep? Probably not.

Today Arda was allowed to go home but was not allowed to return to football for a couple of days. After leaving Arda remarked that the life a footballer is full of stress and work and that its not as easy as some may think, especially if you’re a 20 yr old Turkish player with the weight of the world on your shoulders. Arda also blasted the Turkish media for spreading false rumors about him, in particular a rumor that claims that Arda was caught drinking alcohol, something he strongly denied. He even went as far as declaring that he would quit playing football if ever drank. Gotta admire the kid’s personal morals.

In modern football, players are required to work much harder, and much more is asked of them in training and on the pitch. When we have a lot of pressure on players such as Arda who plays in almost every match Galatasaray and the national team is involved with, these kind of unfortunate things happen. But unfortunantly we do not have any other players that can comfortably take Arda’s place. And so more weight is placed on the youngsters shoulders.

The fact that Arda couldn’t go to sleep over the Fener match just shows how much he loves this club. As we would say in Turkish “Cani cigeri, CimBomlu“, “His heart and soul are CimBomlu”. This coupled with his actions these past couple of weeks are only making Arda into a true CimBom legend.

i think people now realize how important he is to turkish football with the fact that fener put him up on their webpage, so did uefa.

i hope he gets well soon, he won’t be 100% for another week or so.
